MANILA, Philippines — Bea Alonzo has set the record straight regarding her breakup with ex-fiancé Dominic Roque, revealing she was not the one who initiated their split.
In an interview with Nelson Canlas aired on Thursday’s “24 Oras” newscast, the actress addressed the misconceptions about their breakup. Responding to Canlas’s comment that people often think she initiated the breakup and was the first to be affected, Bea stated, “Actually, that’s false. Hindi. Hindi ako ang nakipag-break.”

Although Alonzo confirmed the breakup, she expressed her reluctance to discuss the details, wishing to preserve the positive memories of their relationship. “Let’s leave it in the past. It’s amicable. OK naman kami. I think it will be disrespectful to the relationship and to the other person to talk about it. It’s a very sensitive topic. And gusto kong bigyang ng respeto at gusto kong iwan sa magandang paraan what we had,” she explained.
During the interview, Alonzo also shared how difficult it was to deal with her heartbreak publicly, especially when false narratives spread about her life. “Doon siguro ako pinaka-naapektuhan kasi maraming nagspre-spread ng false narrative about my life. And when you’re going through something really difficult in your life and you have other people narrating it for you in a different way, very different from the way you see it and very different from the truth, sobrang sakit niya,” she said.
She emphasized the pain of enduring a personal crisis under public scrutiny, noting, “Kasi, yes, it affects you kasi it’s one thing to go through something silently, like a very, very huge heartbreak. But it’s another thing to be going through it in front of the public nang iba ‘yung narrative.”
In response to the false narratives, both Bea and Dominic have taken legal action. Last May, Bea filed cyber libel cases against showbiz talk show hosts Cristy Fermin and Ogie Diaz. Dominic also filed a cyber libel case against Fermin for “malicious statements and innuendos” made on her online show.
Bea Alonzo will next appear in the upcoming thriller drama “Widow’s War,” alongside Carla Abellana, on GMA-7.
