Ion Perez, host of It’s Showtime, has officially withdrawn his candidacy for councilor in Concepcion, Tarlac, just weeks after announcing his intent to run in the 2025 midterm elections.

In a TikTok video posted on Monday, November 4, Perez addressed his supporters, thanking them for their trust and explaining his decision to step back from the political race. “To my people in Concepcion, thank you very much for the trust and support you have given me. I want to inform you that I will no longer run for or continue as the councilor of Concepcion,” he said.
The 33-year-old celebrity expressed his desire to be fully prepared before taking on a role in public service. “I want to prepare myself first so I won’t be embarrassed and can serve you properly. Thank you very much for your trust. I apologize,” he added.
Perez’s announcement comes as he acknowledges the importance of readiness in serving his community effectively, reiterating his commitment to earning his supporters’ confidence through careful preparation.
