Maris Racal has addressed the buzz around a viral photo showing her and her onscreen partner Anthony Jennings wearing the same style of rubber shoes, clarifying that it was purely a coincidence.

The pair, known to fans as “MaThon,” attracted attention on social media after being spotted in matching sneakers during a shoot in Italy last September, leading fans and internet personality Xian Gaza to speculate about “couple shoes.” However, Racal downplayed the rumors during an interview at the Opulence Ball on October 31.

“It just so happened that we have the same shoes. I found it funny because it was a coincidence that we wore them on the same day,” Racal explained. She added that she had owned the sneakers for years, saying, “I bought those shoes about two or three years ago. It was just a coincidence.”

The Racal-Jennings tandem has become popular since they starred as Irene and Snoop in Can’t Buy Me Love. They will appear together in the Metro Manila Film Festival entry And The Breadwinner Is…, as well as an untitled project directed by Jason Paul Laxamana. The duo will also join the cast of Incognito, a new drama series featuring Richard Gutierrez, Daniel Padilla, Kaila Estrada, and Ian Veneracion.
