MANILA, Philippines — Actress Pauleen Luna expressed gratitude following a court ruling in favor of her husband, Vic Sotto, ordering filmmaker Darryl Yap to take down the teaser for his controversial film about the late Pepsi Paloma.
In an Instagram post, Luna shared a screenshot of the court decision and described the verdict as a victory for their family. She also emphasized the importance of kindness and responsibility in sharing content online.

“We give thanks to the Lord for this court decision. The results are in and the outcome is in our favor, confirming that the material released was malicious in nature. We won!” Luna wrote.
She continued, “This victory is for our children and family, and we humbly lift our gratitude to Almighty God. Let this be a reminder that our words and actions have great power, and that kindness and integrity should always guide us.”
Luna called on netizens to “be mindful and responsible about posting/sharing malicious content about people” and urged everyone to “act with kindness, integrity, and respect.”
The Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 205 partially granted the writ of habeas data filed by Sotto, ordering Yap to remove the teaser video for The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma from all online platforms.
The teaser had named Sotto as an alleged perpetrator, sparking outrage and legal action from the veteran comedian and host. While the court ruled for the teaser’s removal, it also allowed Yap to proceed with the production and eventual release of the film.
Sotto’s lawyer, Atty. Enrique Dela Cruz Jr., welcomed the decision and noted that their focus would now shift to the cyber libel complaint filed against Yap.
“We are thankful for the Muntinlupa court’s decision,” Dela Cruz said.
Sotto initially sought the writ of habeas data to have all related materials taken down, particularly the teaser that he argued painted him in a malicious and defamatory light. He also filed 19 counts of cyber libel against Yap in connection with the teaser’s release.
Yap has not issued a statement regarding the court decision at this time.
